Privacy policy: Godspire: Ascension of the Myths
The short version
Godspire keeps your game on your phone. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number and we do not run our own analytics. If you open the Ladders tab, or the Players section of the Arena, a copy of your save is sent to our server so it can place you on the ladders and match you with other players (details below); nothing is sent to our server unless you open one of those. The game also offers optional rewarded videos from Google AdMob, which use your device's advertising id.
What stays on your phone
Your progress, settings and purchase receipts (order numbers) are saved in a file on your phone. If you use Android's own backup, Google may back that file up to your Google account under Google's terms. Uninstalling the game, or clearing its data in Android settings, deletes the file on your phone.
The Ladders tab and our server
The Ladders tab ranks players on progress, collection and gear. It exists so there is something to climb; it never ranks how much anyone spent. The Players section of the Arena matches you with other players near your strength for fights that our server decides.
- What is sent, and when. Only when you open the Ladders tab or the Arena's Players section, the game sends a copy of your save file to our server. The save contains your progress, your collection and gear, the name you gave your Wanderer, your settings and your purchase records (order numbers, the products bought and the price shown at the time). It does not contain your Google account, email, phone number or payment details.
- How we know it is you. The game makes a random guest code on your phone the first time you use the tab. Our server stores only a one-way hash of it, together with a short public id such as GS-7K2Q9F. There is no sign-in with your name or email.
- What we keep. Your latest save and a few recent earlier versions of it (so a damaged save can be recovered), your ladder scores, your team's power, your arena points, wins and losses, a record of each player-versus-player fight (who fought whom, the day, the result and both teams' power), the public id, the dates the account was created and last used, and a record of your sign-in sessions. We do not store your IP address with your account. Like any server, ours sees the address you connect from while you are connected.
- What other players see. Only "Wanderer" followed by your public id, and your score or team power. Never the name you gave your Wanderer, and never anything you typed. Your team, as it was when you last opened one of these pages, can be fought by other players in the Arena; they see only your public id and your team's power, and you are not notified.
- Why. To work out your score and place you on the ladders, and to keep a copy of your save.
- Where it is. On a server we rent from a hosting company, which handles the data only on our behalf. It is protected in transit (the connection is encrypted) and by a firewall; the data is not sold or used for advertising.
- How long. Until you delete it. Deleting removes your save, its earlier versions, your sign-in sessions, your ladder entries and your arena records (including fights you took part in) straight away; a blank record (the public id and the dates) stays so that the id is not reused. Copies in our nightly backups disappear within 14 days.
To delete it, use Delete my ladder data at the bottom of the Ladders tab, or see how to delete your data without the app.
Services the game uses
- Google Play. Purchases are made and processed by Google Play under Google's terms and privacy policy. We receive an order number and a purchase token for each purchase. We also send Google Play a random number made when you first install the game, so that Google can tell which install a purchase belongs to. It is not your name, email or account.
- Google AdMob (ads). The game offers optional videos that you can watch for a small bonus. Watching is always your choice, and holders of the Premium Pass do not see them. To show ads, Google AdMob uses your device's advertising id and other device information to choose and measure ads and to prevent fraud, under Google's own privacy policy. Where the law requires it (the EEA and the UK), the game asks for your consent first and does not request an ad until you agree. You can change this later in Settings (Ad privacy choices), and you can reset or delete your advertising id in your Android settings.
- Google ML Kit. If you turn on chat translation, the translation runs on your phone. Language packs are downloaded from Google the first time you use a language. See Google's ML Kit privacy information for what Google may receive when packs are downloaded.
Children
Godspire is not directed at children under 13 and is intended for players aged 16 and over. It contains optional purchases, including random items, and publishes its odds in the game.
Your choices
You can delete the data on our server at any time (see above). You can delete the game data on your phone by uninstalling the game or clearing its storage. You can turn notifications and translation on and off in Settings. Spending is only ever started by you, and Google Play lets you set purchase approvals and budgets on your account.
Changes
If we change what the game or the server collects, we will update this policy and the game before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when this page last changed.
